Kwara State Government has urged local government authorities to make their newly procured tractors available to farmers at the grassroots as part of the larger strategy to boost food security in the state. <\/p>
<\/p>
Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Bata appealed on Friday when the local councils unveiled the tractors, each coming with implements such as plows, ridgers, harrows, and tractor-trailers. <\/p>
<\/p>
Bata said he was excited that the local councils purchased the tractors to reflect the improvements in their allocation, adding that the newly procured tractors will boost farming activities at the grassroots. <\/p>
<\/p>
\u201cThe decision of the local councils to purchase these tractors and the many accessories is a thoughtful one, and I believe it corroborates the position of His Excellency Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq that no one takes local council funds,\u201d he said.<\/p>
<\/p>
\u201cWe urge the local councils to endeavor to make these new tractors available for massive agricultural activities in their areas. We believe this will complement the massive investment of the state government in this regard.\u201d<\/p>

He urged the residents of Garko and surrounding areas to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the project to improve their socio-economic conditions and contribute to the state\u2019s overall development.<\/p>

In a related development, the Governor announced the revocation of the contract for the Garko Local Government five-kilometer road project due to the contractor\u2019s failure to mobilize to the site. <\/p>
<\/p>
He assured that a new, reliable contractor would be appointed within a few days to ensure the project\u2019s timely completion.<\/p>
<\/p>
Governor Yusuf also committed to establishing a modern health facility in Garko town, aimed at bringing healthcare services closer to the people. <\/p>
<\/p>

The distribution was part of the activities to commemorate one year in office of the Minister.<\/p> The Minister said the gesture was in furtherance of the Renewed Hope Agenda initiatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration on food security.<\/p> Prince Audu said that the distribution of the items to vulnerable indigenes and eligible farmers was aimed at reducing the impact of the food inflation on indigenes of the state as the benefits from the efforts of the Federal Government towards improving living conditions of the people in the face of the current food crisis.<\/p> \u201cToday, I am here to distribute almost 4,000 bags of rice and fertilizers across the 21 local government areas of Kogi state to ensure that all stakeholders in Kogi State benefit from the palliatives under the renewed hope agenda of Mr. President to ensure food security. <\/p> \u201cAnd I want to thank all of you, especially the youths for abstaining from the nationwide protests in Kogi State.
